Host a 2023 CDIP Intern to Connect your Hospital with Diverse Talent

Health Career Connection logo

The HASC and Health Career Connection (HCC) workforce diversity program is known as the College to Career Diversity Internship Program, or CDIP. CDIP is a 10-week, full-time, paid, project-based summer internship program that identifies and recruits local, diverse high-performing college upperclassmen and recent graduates seeking health care careers.

Become a Program Host

We are now accepting host applications for the CDIP 2023 summer cohort. In an ideal placement, host organizations and their intern supervisors (preceptors) provide hands-on learning experiences that include opportunities to shadow key executives, interview staff and stakeholders, and work on projects that help interns understand how both the organization and the health sector work.

Highlights from the 2022 CDIP Program

This year, we placed 20 interns at seven hospitals and health systems and at HASC/Communities Lifting Communities. Here are a few testimonials from our host sites.

City of Hope: Shelley De Leon, Preceptor, and Jazmine Gwizdala, Intern

City of Hope (COH) hosted a CDIP intern “to provide a learning experience and career exposure to a talented young person,” Shelley said. The organization was extremely pleased with their intern, Jazmine, and offered her a full-time position. Jazmine is now working as a data analyst at COH and will attend the University of California Riverside School of Medicine in fall 2024.

KPC Health: Theresa Berton, Preceptor, and Justin Park, Intern

KPC Global and Theresa have hosted CDIP interns for the past two summers. Theresa stated, “The CDIP/HCC interns are eager to learn and share their knowledge. They are very engaged — Justin sought out and supported projects beyond his assigned project.”

Connect your Hospital with Diverse Talent

Interns provide value to host organizations through the projects they complete and their fresh insights, innovative thinking and enthusiasm to learn and engage. Interested organizations may complete the Host Interest Form here and learn more about the program on our webpage. We will hold information sessions for potential host hospitals in early January 2023.
