HASC is excited to again partner with HealthImpact to bring the California Registered Nurse (RN) Specialty Apprenticeship Program to Ventura County.

The transition-to-practice program supports nurses new to practice, or the ambulatory specialty, through their first year working in ambulatory clinics. Under a preceptor, RNs will receive on-the-job, employer-paid experience along with evidence-based supplemental learning.

HealthImpact’s competency-based curriculum, informed by the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing, interweaves 119 skills across 25 learning modules. Transition-to-practice programs have been proven to increase workforce retention, job satisfaction and patient outcomes. The Future of Nursing 2020-2030 report recommends making these programs a critical priority for new nurses entering the workforce.

HASC and HealthImpact are seeking Ventura County hospitals, health systems and clinics to enroll RNs in the next cohort, starting in Sept. 2025. HealthImpact will partner with the Workforce Development Board of Ventura County to leverage state Incumbent Worker Training monies to fund the cohort. This support, along with California Division of Apprenticeship Standards reimbursement, will offset any direct program costs to hospitals and clinics.
