President's Message

Thank You for Making the 2024 Annual Meeting a Success

“Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.” — Albert Einstein

I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Memorial Day weekend with family and friends, taking time to reflect on the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice serving our great country. Their selfless service allows us to enjoy the freedoms and safety that we often take for granted.

I’d like to extend my heartfelt thanks to each of you for attending HASC’s 2024 Annual Meeting in Carlsbad last week. Your presence and active participation made the event a resounding success, and I’m truly grateful for your commitment to our shared mission.

With nearly 400 attendees, this year’s Annual Meeting was one of our most well-attended and engaging events to date. The enthusiasm and dedication shown by our members reaffirm the strength and unity of HASC. It was a pleasure to witness such a vibrant exchange of ideas, experiences and solutions aimed at advancing health care in Southern California.

The diverse range of breakout sessions, keynote speeches and networking opportunities fostered valuable connections and insights. I’m particularly proud of the discussions that took place around innovative approaches to caring for unhoused patients, addressing health inequities, turning adversity into adventure and achievement, and establishing a no-fail trust leadership model in health care. These conversations are crucial as we strive to navigate the evolving landscape of health care and meet the needs of our communities.

We also built in some fun at our Wild, Wild West Strolling Dinner, where our members sported cowboy hats, boots and Western gear while enjoying a delightful dinner with colleagues. Our fantastic sponsors showcased valuable health care services and products, adding significantly to the evening’s success. I want to express my immense gratitude to our sponsors for helping make the event a hit.

I also want to thank our 2024 Annual Meeting keynote speakers and session leaders, who shared their expertise and perspectives on pressing issues facing our industry. Their insights sparked thought-provoking dialogues and inspired us to think creatively about the future of health care.

Not least, my deep thanks go to the HASC team, whose hard work and detailed planning ensured the event ran seamlessly. Their dedication behind the scenes made this meeting a memorable and impactful experience for all.

We look forward to hosting another wonderful event next year in Palm Desert at the Hyatt Regency Indian Wells, April 23 to 25, 2025. We hope to see you there!

As we head into summer, we face many challenging issues on county and city fronts that will require our collective efforts to protect the interests of our hospitals. HASC will be working diligently to represent you. We’ll continue to keep you informed of any updates and needed involvement on your part.

Take care and stay safe.
