President's Message

Every Hospital Has a Hero. Help Us Recognize Them.

Every day across Southern California, remarkable people walk through hospital doors with a singular purpose: to care for others.

They’re the nurses who comfort families during life’s most difficult moments. Environmental services staff who ensure safe healing environments. Laboratory professionals who deliver critical results. Engineers who keep life-saving equipment running. Volunteers who brighten a patient’s day. Countless individuals whose compassion, expertise and dedication often go unnoticed.

These people are what makes our hospitals extraordinary.

At HASC, we have the privilege of seeing the incredible work taking place across our member hospitals, and the My SoCal Hospital Heroes Awards is our opportunity to honor those employees who embody the very best of healthcare. Each year, the stories we receive remind us that heroism isn’t reserved for the rare occasion. More often, it’s found in everyday acts of kindness, unwavering commitment and a willingness to go above and beyond for patients, colleagues and the community.

As we approach the nomination deadline, I encourage every hospital leader to reflect on the people who make a lasting difference within your organization. Think about the employee whose compassion changed a patient’s experience, the team member who quietly solves problems behind the scenes or the colleague whose leadership inspires everyone around them.

Nominations are open to employees in every area of your hospital: clinical care, facilities, food services, security, volunteer services and beyond. Outstanding people work throughout our hospitals, and every role plays an essential part in delivering exceptional care.

Please take a few minutes to share a hero’s story by Friday, July 24. Your nomination could provide a moment of recognition for someone whose impact deserves to be celebrated across our region. Award recipients will be honored during the 2026 My SoCal Hospital Heroes Awards Gala on Saturday, Nov. 14.
Thank you for helping us shine a spotlight on the people who truly represent the heart of Southern California’s hospitals.

I look forward to celebrating them with you this November.

Take care and stay safe.
