What is SAFE-TXT?
SAFE-TXTSM is a HASC-managed emergency security notification network that connects healthcare safety and security leaders across the region. The system enables rapid sharing of security intelligence, emerging threats and situational awareness information that may impact healthcare operations.
The program was established to help safeguard patients, hospitals and affiliated organizations by facilitating timely communication among healthcare partners during critical incidents and evolving security events.
Unlike information that is limited to a single hospital or health system, SAFE-TXT provides participants with visibility into incidents and concerns occurring across the broader healthcare community. This shared awareness enables organizations to recognize trends, anticipate potential threats, enhance preparedness and make informed operational decisions before an issue reaches their own facilities.
SAFE-TXT is a one-way communication and situational awareness resource.
Participants receive notifications regarding significant security incidents, public safety concerns and emerging threats affecting healthcare organizations. The platform is designed to supplement, not replace, existing emergency response procedures, law enforcement notifications, hospital incident command systems or internal communication channels.
