CLC Health Care Scholarship and Stipend Program

Applications for the 2023 Communities Lifting Communities Diversity in Health Care Scholarship and Stipend Program will be accepted through June 14. The program aims to help increase diversity in hospital workforces through financial support to students employed in HASC member hospitals, especially those from communities historically underrepresented in health care.

  • Who Can Join?

    Associate provider membership includes these organization types:  

    Group 1. Inpatient facilities: Offer patients continuous 24-hour care and admit them for extended periods. Provide comprehensive medical treatment, rehabilitation or long-term care that does not require a general acute care (GAC) hospital license.

  • Examples: Skilled nursing facilities (SNFs), long-term acute care (LTAC) hospitals, psychiatric health facilities (PHFs), inpatient rehabilitation facilities (IRFs), specialized limited-service hospitals (LSHs), congregate living health facilities (CLHFs) and supportive housing.
  • Group 2. Outpatient/ambulatory facilities: Provide same-day diagnostic, preventive or interventional care without an overnight stay.

  • Examples: Primary care clinics, ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs), urgent care centers, imaging centers, medical groups and physician organizations.
  • Group 3. Other clinical continuum providers: Deliver essential nonresidential services supporting the broader health care system. Offer specialized services that fall outside of traditional inpatient or outpatient care, often operating in the community or within a laboratory setting.

  • Examples: Organ procurement organizations (OPOs), community blood banks, contractual service providers and agencies, and home health/hospice agencies.
