Communities Lifting Communities (CLC) and HASC are proud to announce that CLC’s Claudia Pacheco, health equity program manager, and HASC’s Vetannie Morton, coordinator of diversity, health equity and inclusion programs, received an inaugural Healthcare Purchasing News 40 Under 40 Award.

The two were honored for their work with CLC’s supplier diversity initiative. The effort aims to promote health equity and economic development by connecting HASC member hospitals with local diverse-owned businesses. Morton and Pacheco have been instrumental in advancing the initiative through events such as the Hospital Supplier Diversity Conference, now in its second year.

In addition, HASC coordinates the Regional Hospital Supplier Diversity Committee and CLC recently published the Los Angeles County Supplier Diversity Landscape Report.

“It’s great to be recognized among such a talented group of professionals in the industry, including my colleague and friend Vetannie Morton,” Pacheco said. “What captivates me about health care is its perpetual innovation and evolution, particularly when it integrates an equity lens to drive transformative change for enhancing community health outcomes.”

Morton said, “I’m deeply honored to have received the inaugural Healthcare Purchasing News 40 Under 40 Award alongside my colleague and friend Claudia Pacheco. This recognition reflects the collective efforts of the entire team at CLC and HASC.

“Our work in promoting health equity and supplier diversity is driven by a shared commitment to positively impacting our communities. I’m grateful to Healthcare Purchasing News for this prestigious honor, and I’m inspired to continue advancing these important initiatives,” she said.

“These awards are a great honor and acknowledgment of the innovative work that CLC and HASC are leading in the health care supplier diversity arena,” said Susan Harrington, president of CLC.

According to Chris Driscoll, vice president and market leader, health care, at Healthcare Purchasing News, “The winners represent some of the best, brightest, and hardest working young people” working in supply chain, sterile processing, infection prevention and other purchasing areas.
