Welcome to New CEOs Bjornberg, Senella

HASC is pleased to welcome two new hospital leaders to our membership. Christopher Bjornberg became the new chief executive officer (CEO) of San Gorgonio Memorial Hospital (SGMH) in June. Albert Senella is president and CEO of Tarzana Treatment Center, which in June became HASC’s newest hospital member.

SGMH is a 79-bed acute care hospital and nonprofit public benefit corporation. Prior to assuming its leadership, Bjornberg served as CEO of Imperial Valley Healthcare District/Pioneers Memorial Hospital. There, he led a major multi-hospital consolidation and advanced operational, financial and quality performance initiatives.

Known for his collaborative leadership style, Bjornberg has successfully improved revenue performance, strengthened physician and staff engagement, reduced workforce turnover and expanded innovative healthcare services. His leadership has contributed to national recognition for healthcare quality and operational excellence.

A fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, he holds master’s degrees in healthcare management and in accounting and Finance. Bjornberg has also served on multiple healthcare-related boards and is a frequent speaker at national healthcare conferences.

Tarzana Treatment Center is the main facility of Tarzana Treatment Centers (TTC), Inc., a full-service behavioral healthcare organization with locations across LA County. As president and CEO of TTC, Senella has overseen development and implementation of a growing range of integrated healthcare services including substance use disorder (SUD), mental health, HIV/AIDS, primary medical care and other social supports addressing critical needs of uninsured, underinsured and low-income residents.

Under Senella’s leadership, TTC’s services have emphasized patient-centered care that addresses total health needs while reducing the cost of care. The organization’s integrated model includes six family primary care clinics designated as Federally Qualified Health Center lookalikes that include specialty HIV/AIDS medical care. Senella also has led TTC’s expansion of the Drug Medi-Cal Organized Deliver System (DMC-ODS), growing the organization into one of California’s largest integrated SUD treatment providers.

Currently president of the California Association of Alcohol and Drug Program Executives, Senella is also active with state and local advisory bodies and in educating legislators and policymakers on behavioral health issues.
