
HASC welcomes Peter L. Slavin, MD, who became president and CEO of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Health System on Oct. 1. He succeeds Thomas M. Priselac, who retired after 30 years in that role and 45 years total with Cedars-Sinai.
Dr. Slavin brings to his new role deep experience in academic medicine and dedication to serving patients and community. He joins Cedars‑Sinai from his previous position as president of Massachusetts General Hospital. With more than 900 inpatient beds, Mass General houses the largest hospital-based research program in the U.S.
Throughout his career as a physician leader, professor and administrator, Dr. Slavin has led innovation in clinical care, research funding, scientific impact, workforce development and fundraising. Under his leadership, Mass General earned the American Hospital Association’s inaugural Equity of Care Award in 2014.
Dr. Slavin has also been an influential voice for hospitals on the national stage. He has served as board chair of the Association of American Medical Colleges and is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and American Academy of Arts & Sciences.
Dr. Slavin graduated from Harvard College with a bachelor’s degree in biochemical sciences. He earned his medical degree from Harvard Medical School and his MBA from Harvard Business School.
