Tammi McConnell joins HASC as SVP, ReddiNet

Tammi McConnell, SVP, ReddiNet

HASC is pleased to welcome Tammi McConnell, who became the new senior vice president (SVP), ReddiNet, in late February.

The association’s Soraya Peters, currently SVP, ReddiNet, will soon retire after heading the emergency communications system for 17 years. She’ll hand the baton to McConnell, who brings more than 30 years of experience in emergency response and other health care settings. As one of the first Orange County registered nurses trained in ReddiNet, McConnell also holds “a deep appreciation” for the communications system.

“We’re excited to welcome Tammi as the new leader of ReddiNet,” said Paul Young, senior vice president, advocacy and public policy, HASC. “Not only does she bring very strong credentials, but her deep experience with ReddiNet makes her the ideal person to build on the momentum that Soraya Peters and her team have created in recent years.”

In her new role, McConnell is charged with overseeing and enhancing ReddiNet, and delivering the system to emergency medical responders, hospitals and other stakeholders. Her responsibilities include managing all technical operations, such as maintaining equipment and developing software improvements to speed 911 response times and reduce APOT (ambulance patient offload time).

She will work closely with emergency management services (EMS) agencies in 23 counties, along with hospital leaders and other key stakeholders; oversee strategic planning for growth and geographic expansion; and manage budgeting, marketing and business development, and contracting.

McConnell comes to HASC from the OC Health Care Agency, where she has served since 2017 as director of Orange County Emergency Medical Services (OCEMS) — the fifth largest EMS system in the U.S. She joined OCEMS in 2010 as coordinator and became EMS administrator the following year.

Previously, McConnell was an emergency department charge nurse at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana. She began her health care career as a registered nurse in skilled nursing and oncology, later moving into management and emergency room/trauma roles.

A licensed RN, public health nurse and mobile intensive care nurse, McConnell serves on the executive board of the California Emergency Medical Services Administrators Association and many other EMS and health care organization boards and committees. She earned her BS in nursing from Cal State University, Long Beach, and her MS in nursing leadership from Cal State Fullerton.
