Your Input Needed: Orange County Workforce Initiatives

HASC Workforce Development would like to raise awareness of two workforce initiatives currently underway in Orange County, and request our members’ support and participation as we work diligently to find solutions to the county’s health care workforce shortages.

First, we are partnering with Orange County United Way to produce a comprehensive workforce report. The report’s goal is to provide hospitals, academic institutions, workforce development boards, policymakers and community stakeholders with data-driven insights that support a resilient, equitable and sustainable health care workforce across Southern California.

We hope this report will serve as a strategic roadmap to guide targeted investments and policy changes, fostering a diverse, inclusive and future-ready workforce. It will include long-range insights, extend beyond a single year and specifically cover Orange County. As part of this effort, you’re invited to take part in a consultant-led online focus group to gather your insights on workforce needs, on-the-ground challenges and potential solutions.

Please register in advance here for the focus group, which will take place Wednesday, Jan. 21, at noon Pacific Time. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with details on how to join the meeting.

Second, HASC is collaborating with the Orange County Business Council on the county’s local implementation of California’s Jobs First program. Launched by Governor Gavin Newsom, the state-led, community-driven economic development initiative is designed to foster inclusive growth and create well-paid jobs across priority sectors including health care.

As part of this work, HASC is conducting a brief survey to gather insights into workforce challenges experienced by health care organizations, and opportunities to address these issues. The online survey is available here. We ask that you please route the survey to the appropriate person and complete it by Friday, Jan. 23.

HASC greatly appreciates your participation and feedback in these workforce initiatives as we continue working to address challenges and advance effective solutions.
