HASC is pleased to welcome Ruby Gill, DNP, MBA, RN, senior vice president and area manager, Kaiser Permanente (KP) San Bernardino County Service Area, and Adam Thunell, chief executive officer, Redlands Community Hospital (RCH).

Ruby Gill, DNP, MBA, RN

Gill, who assumed her role in January, oversees health plan and hospital operations and partners with the area medical director and chief administrative officer to ensure the delivery of high-quality, value-based care for more than 680,000 members.

Gill brings more than 20 years of leadership experience with KP Southern California. Most recently, she served as chief operating officer for KP Baldwin Park Medical Center, where she had executive oversight of hospital and health plan functions including utilization management, operations support services, member services, facilities management, care experience and others.

As chief nurse executive at Irvine Medical Center from 2012 to 2022, Gill enhanced patient care experience, consistently achieving exemplary service, quality and work environment outcomes. In addition, in 2017 the medical center became the first KP hospital to receive the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Magnet Recognition, honoring excellence in nursing and high-quality patient care. Gill began her career in 2000 as a registered nurse at Anaheim Medical Center.

She holds a BS in nursing and an MBA with a concentration in health care management from the University of Phoenix, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from American Sentinel University, Denver.

Adam Thunell

Thunell was appointed chief executive officer at RCH in January. Most recently, he served as senior vice president and chief operating officer for Community Memorial Healthcare, Ventura. He oversaw systemwide hospital and ambulatory operations while strengthening physician partnerships and advancing long-term strategic planning efforts, including major building projects such as construction of a new acute care hospital in Ventura.

Previously, Thunell held key leadership roles at Cottage Health, Santa Barbara, and Fairview Health Services, Minneapolis, where he built a reputation for collaborative leadership, operational excellence and dedication to expanding access to care.

Thunell earned an MBA from the University of Minnesota and a BS in business management from Brigham Young University. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives, an active member of the Healthcare Executives of Southern California and a member of several local and national boards.

“We look forward to the vision, compassion and energy Adam brings to his new role as he leads our organization into its next chapter of growth and service,” said Carol Snodgress, chair of the Redlands Community Hospital Board of Directors. “Adam brings years of leadership that will give RCH the opportunity to further expand and improve high quality care for even more members of our community.”
