Overview
In association with HealthImpact, a nursing workforce center, HASC is establishing academic-practice partnerships to develop nursing specialty education courses. Topics will focus on perioperative, critical care, emergency, labor and delivery, neonatal ICU, case manager and care coordinator.
Courses will provide content and immersive clinical education time to prepare both new graduate RNs and experienced nurses transitioning to new roles. Through the South Bay Workforce Investment Board (SBWIB) and Los Angeles Basin Region Workforce Development Boards, HASC received funding to offer perioperative specialty courses together with area nursing programs. The first courses, held in 2018, trained 17 RNs at eight LA County hospitals to become perioperative nurses.
